The Differences in Leadership Style

The table below outlines some of the differences in leadership styles between compliance and creation companies.

As you read through the table below, check that you understand the terms used. If you find terms you are unsure about, do a quick bit of your own internet research. For example:

• Do you understand what is meant by command and control?

• Do you understand why competition between internal departments (sometimes referred to as “silos”) leads to sub-optimization of a system?

• Do you understand the difference between a beginner’s mind and an expert’s mind?

Also, reflect on the leadership ethos within your current business or organization (or in a business in which you have worked in the past).
