Tom is a leading authority on digital photography, a photographer, author, educator, mentor, and TV broadcaster.
He won the Thomas Cook award for Best Illustrated Travel Book. He has worked as a magazine editor, picture editor, and technical journalist. He has exhibited internationally and was a university senior lecturer leader in photography for over 12 years.

Tom has written 32 books on photography, including Digital Photographer’s Handbook, which has sold over half a million copies and has been translated into 20 languages, and the award-winning Digital Photography Masterclass.

He has juried international photo competitions such as Sony World Photography Awards, Hamdan International Photography Award, and Wildlife Photographer of the Year. He is a Sony Digital Imaging Ambassador for New Zealand.
