Episode #1 of the course Maximize your energy and productivity to live your best life by Linda Hardenstein

Welcome to the course!

I’m Linda, founder of the highly popular blog at balancingworkandlife.com. I study and write about personal energy management and achieving what you want in your career and life.

Over the next ten days, you will learn how to boost your energy and become more productive by implementing simple strategies. You will understand how to tap your personal power sources throughout your workday so you have plenty of energy left over for your personal life.

Today, we will start by doing a simple yet important exercise to discover where your energy level is right now.

I have listed ten statements below. I want you to think deeply about them for the next few minutes. Then, I want you to be truthful (there’s no one watching or judging you!) as you put a checkmark in the “Yes” or “No” box next to each statement.

Answer each statement depending on how you feel at this very minute.

Go!

Take a minute to look over all your “No” answers. What are the top three “No” answers that you’d like to turn around to a “Yes” answer?

For example, I checked “No” next to the statement, “I know what to do so I don’t feel drained.” My first turnaround statement will be, “I want to know what to do so I don’t feel drained.”

Now write your top three turnaround statements from the list above.

Your energy is a precious resource. It is not guaranteed nor is there an unending supply. Energy has to be generated. Think of a hydro-electric plant. The tumultuous waters are needed to turn the turbines that generate electricity.

There are many ways to regenerate your energy physically, such as through movement; mentally, such as by staying in the flow; and emotionally, such as by reducing stress. We’ll be talking about these kinds of activities to power up your level of energy so you can generate the level of steam you need to stay productive throughout your day.

Your personal energy is something to be treasured, generated, sustained, and renewed. Making a conscious decision to be the master of your energy and maximize it means you can transform your life.

Today, you completed your own energy assessment, so you know where you are, and you identified three things you’d like to turn around. Good job!

Tomorrow, we will start by taking a look at where you want to go and what upping your energy means for you.

To an energizing day!

Linda
